How much should you spend on TikTok music promotion? A budget guide for artists and labels

2026-10-29 · Music Marketing

Most artists and labels start with the same question: how big a budget does it take to get a song moving on TikTok? Nobody can promise an exact number, but we can show you how to work it out and how to split it.

Why the cost is hard to predict

In traditional influencer marketing the cost is simple: you ask a creator their rate per video and pay it. The problem is that you pay upfront without knowing how many people will see the video. One post from a 50,000-follower account can get 3,000 views, the next one 300,000.

A pay-per-view campaign flips this. You don't pay for the number of videos, you pay for what those videos actually reach. On Music Marketing you set the budget, creators make videos with your song, and each video is paid in tiers based on its real views. If the budget isn't used up, the rest is refunded automatically within 5 days after the campaign ends.

What do 1,000 views actually cost?

The payout tiers are built so that videos with bigger reach are cheaper per view. A few examples, calculated at the top of each tier:

Video viewsCreator payoutApprox. per 1,000 views
30,000€13€0.43
120,000€50€0.42
500,000€100€0.20
1,000,000€150€0.15

The top tier starts at 700,001 views, and no single video is paid more than €150, however far it goes. So when a video really takes off, the cost per 1,000 views keeps dropping. The 20% platform fee comes on top of these amounts.

How big should your budget be?

The minimum is €300 (or 100,000 HUF), plus the 20% platform fee. Whether you need more depends mostly on what you want to achieve:

One rule applies everywhere: don't start with an amount you can't afford to lose. Nothing on TikTok is guaranteed, and no campaign can force a song to become a hit.

A worked example

Say you set a €300 budget. With the platform fee, that costs you €360. If the campaign mostly produces videos with 10,000 to 30,000 views, each of those is paid €13, so the budget covers roughly 23 videos. That adds up to somewhere between 230,000 and 690,000 total views.

In practice videos perform unevenly: a few small ones, a few average ones and, with some luck, one or two very strong ones. Read this example as an order of magnitude, not a promise. The campaign runs for 14 days but closes early if the budget runs out.

How to get more reach from the same money

Budget size is only one factor. The same amount can produce very different results depending on how you set up the campaign:

  1. The right snippet. Make the strongest 15–30 seconds of the song the TikTok sound, usually the chorus or a recognisable hook.
  2. A short, clear note for creators. Describe the mood you have in mind, but don't hand them a fixed script. Videos in their own style perform best.
  3. Timing. A campaign in release week also lifts streaming numbers, because people who hear the song in a video can look it up.
  4. Real views only. Bought or artificial views are never paid, and those accounts are removed. Your budget goes to a real audience.

If this is your first campaign, our guide How to promote a song on TikTok walks through the whole process step by step.

What past campaigns show

A few public results: Mindblow & Edo Denova's "Sex & Love" reached 3.9M views with 23 creators, Regan Lili's "Heal Me" reached 1M views with 22 creators, and SZTATIK's "Menj el" reached 115K views with 8 creators. The spread shows that the fit between the song, the sound and the creators matters at least as much as the budget.
